Online Services

Accessing the surgery using online applications is the easiest and most convenient way. It will enable to save you time and minimise the times you need to visit the Surgery. We also would like to communicate with you using text messages to confirm appointments and call you forward when we need to see you.

To maximise all the benefits of online access we recommend you download the Ask NHS app and the NHS App (Apple or Android) or Patient Access app (Apple or Android). Using these apps, you can check symptoms, book appointments, order repeat medication, change your nominated pharmacy and see your history.

Note - The NHS App is the preferred option as you can submit your ID directly and generally contains more information from your medical records than Patient Access.

You can use Ask NHS app to make an on the day appointment if you need to be urgently seen by a doctor. This app will ask you a series of questions to determine how best to meet your needs and if appropriate you will be able to make an appointment online which will save you wanting for a call. If your need is less urgent and particularly for an ongoing condition you should ring the surgery so that we can arrange an appointment with your doctor or the one who has been seeing you so that we can maintain continuity of care.

 

Acute (On The Day Appointments)

You can use Ask NHS app to make an on the day appointment if you need to be urgently seen by a doctor. This app will ask you a series of questions to determine how best to meet your needs and if appropriate you will be able to make an appointment online which will save you wanting for a call. If your need is less urgent and particularly for an ongoing condition you should ring the surgery so that we can arrange an appointment with your doctor or the one who has been seeing you so that we can maintain continuity of care.

 

Nursing Appointments

You are able to book the following Nursing appointments online using the NHS App (Apple or Android) or the Patient Access app:

  • Smears - These appointments should only be booked if you have been invited to do so.
  • Contraception - These appointments are for consultations about types of contraception and contraception reviews.
  • Bloods - These appointments must only be booked if you have been requested to do so by a clinician.

Please be aware that if these appointments are inappropriately booked they will be cancelled and you will be asked to rebook. You will receive a text to confirm the appointment booking.

 

View And Cancel Appointments

You are able to view all your appointments using NHS App (Apple or Android) or Patient Access and you are able to cancel any of these appointments through the app.

 

Test Results

You can view all test results that have been requested or initiated by this surgery once they have been received by using NHS App (Apple or Android) or Patient Access. This saves you having to come into the surgery or call reception. If the doctor wishes to discuss this with you they will ask Reception to make an appointment. If you are concerned and wish to discuss your results then please contact Reception after 11am.

 

Access To Your Notes

The NHS App (Apple or Android) and The Patient Access app gives you access to your notes. You only need one of these. You will have visibility of any documents, test results, problems, immunisation history, allergies and consultations. You will be given access to these notes from the point of registration with the app. If you wish to see particular notes or results that are before date you will need to complete the online application form specifying which notes you would like to see. To comply with data protection legislation and patient safety, a doctor will have to review all notes before access can be granted.

You can also request a printed version of your notes. This is time consuming and costly for the Practice and therefore we would request this is only requested for a specific need. We will need to make a charge for any subsequent request. Please send in all requests for medical notes in writing.

 

Repeat Prescriptions

You may order any repeat prescription using the NHS App (Apple or Android) or Patient Access app.  We would also request that you select the pharmacy you wish to have the prescription sent to using the app. This save you having to come into the surgery and avoids delays with printing and signing of prescriptions.

 

Online Consultations

We are currently using video and phone consultations due to the COVID-19 pandemic but eventually aim to involve online consultations as a way to help us improve and look after your health.

 

Sick notes

If you require renewal of a sick note that has been previously issued by this Practice, please send us an email (reports.meadowcroft@nhs.net).  Please note, if it is deemed necessary, your usual GP may ask to speak to you before it is renewed. Please also note you will need to arrange an appointment with your usual GP to see you face to face for any new sick notes.  As sick notes must be signed by a Doctor you will need to arrange to collect them from the Surgery or emailed out during the COVID pandemic
